The first works

In 1964, Alain Satié conceptualized a preoccupation that was essential for him, and which recurs throughout his work: the study of light in all its states.

From this perspective, his first sculptural arrangements were the consequences of illumination. He showed his attachment to his original principles of art but reinterpreted them with a modern gesture, in which he used all of the lessons he had learned from the past. He studied solid forms (architecture), emptiness and hollowness (depth in painting), relief (shadows) and its corollary rendering light (generating color) as well as subject (theme). The totality of his work in the arts will reflect this.
